NTU Welcome Week… Mio-ed…

2nd week of the new term, everything is still as fast paced as ever.

Yes, it’s the annual welcome week for freshies of NTU. Basically, went down to help out at the archery recruitment booth for Monday and Tuesday during my free slots. Though we were not really noticeable due to the nearby other clubs (e.g. Cheerleading, etc), the place we had was a-lot better than last year’s booth where it was extremely cramp.

Stayed over in Hall from Tuesday till Thursday as I have morning 8:30 classes for 3 consecutive days. Sad rite? Anywayz, my sore throat was not getting any better till Thursday. Thus, choir prac on Wednesday did proved to be more challenging than usual. -_-”

Met up my FYP prof on Thursday to get some stuff settled and he stunned me saying that I’ve a report to submit on Monday to him [jaw-dropped]. Well of course, I didn’t even have any doubts on that matter as he IS the course coordinator for FYPs… (And that adds on to my list of tasks for the weekend)

Thursday’s cell-group was refreshing after 4 long days and on top of that Sze Ching joined us for the 1st time! Oh yah! The message that Dr. AR Bernard brought to us on Sunday was really powerful, as it really relates to us and what should be perceive as being relevant yet being able drawing the line of what shouldn’t be done that the world is doing.

This morning was pouring since 7:00 and to think that I have classes at 8:30! The route from hall to the lecture hall seemed longer than usual, while trying to seek for sheltered walkways… Neural Network tutorial was still ok at this point of time doh, hope and pray that it’ll stay this way… Jia You…

Finally got my mio connection up by 16:00, the technician who came to setup the package mentioned that there’s some prob with my house phone line BUT everything still works for now…

1st encounters… School reopens!

Been quite a weekend for me, had a couple of 1st times also. So basically, the happenings are as follows:

1st
Went for Friday, supper session at chom-chom (Serangoon Gardens) till 2 am, with a few of my NTU Ministry mates, had a good time of sharing their respective experiences and thoughts about the “Fright night” events in FOCs.

Oh yah, it’s my 1st time eating at Serangoon Gardens. Finally got my hands on the rumored delicacies (i.e. egg tow-huay, BBQ stingray, Hokkien prawn noodle)!

2nd
Attended 4 Aug, (Sat) Festival of Praise (FOP).Met my friends at City Hall, managed to ta-baoed my very 1st Sub-way sandwich before taking bus 16 to SIS.

Surprisingly, the SBS-IRIS messaging service was quite informative in disseminating information about specific bus services next arrival timings, which is really good to let passengers to manage their time before heading to the bus stops.

The SIS securities were on higher alert at spotting water-bottles this time round, even all the cleverly hidden water holders were discovered in the midst of a disorderly bag.

Sat before FOP Starts My Cell Group!

Saturday FOP was not bad, though Don Moen was not in his best condition, I’d felt ministered while worshipping, and the atmosphere got lifted even more with Delirious(?) who came up next with several popular tracks and their new composition.

Rev. Phil’s Pringle message was encouraging, and the point about praising a person while he is alive rather than doing it while he is dead does makes alot of sense. I’m glad to have him to minister to us for this year’s FOP.

After that I proceeded to the HK café at marina square for makan-ing session with my cell-group. And we did one of the most amazing things we could have ever do: playing Hello Kitty UNO! -_-”

Met up with the council on Sunday for our weekly meeting, discussed about our new idea and set our upcoming milestones for the project.

Went for dinner at the zhi-cha store behind Clementi K-box (Same coffee-shop as the famous “Brothers” rojak). The hot-plate omelet and the sweet and sour fish slices were Oishi-desu!

Ahhh… Yes here comes Monday, which was a very packed day for me as one of my core modules starts from 7:30 pm till 9:30 pm (Haiz).

Pretty much went around sitting in for various lectures to decide on my final prescribed electives for this semester.Decided to drop “Programming Languages” and replaced it with “Computer Graphics and Application”. Thank God, I managed to spot this newly added PE in the STARS-PLANNER.

5th
Lastly, Tuesday had possibly my final main committee meeting as te NTUAC publication officer. Squatted over in hall 13 as it was running late and tomorrow I have an 8:30 am lesson!

So that sums up almost what has happened… Ciaoz… Sleeping liao…

Madam Saigon (Liang Seah St)

mdm_saigon_logo.gif food-review.jpg

Crashed into this Vietnamese restaurant on 28 Jul 07, Sat at around 10pm with my friends. The 1st impression was that the place was clean and neat in a simple traditional setting. There were not much customers except for a few couples outside the shop itself; most probably it is close to their closing time.

Anyway, the manager/boss was really helpful in getting us settled down and taking our orders. The food was served up quite fast, which is really expected since we were sort of like the last group of patrons who ordered anything.

The 1st thing that came to my mind was the servings they gave, which were rather large as compared to usual Viet/Thai dish portions.

The Chicken Salad (cold dish) that we ordered was refreshing, good mix of veges, carrots and chicken slices (There’s also a tasty-fried-thingy which I couldn’t make up what it was in the end).

Chicken Salad Special Beef Noodle

The Special Beef Noodle I had was not bad too. Good soup base, tastes even better when you squeeze lime juice into it (If I’m not wrong, they’ll serve up a plateful of herbs, bean sprouts and lime when u order any soup-based dishes). The beef slices were just nicely done, not too over cooked. The beef balls were “Q” enough, but not juicy enough for my preference.

P/S: Pics of the food above were from the Madam Saigon website. The actual food served looked just like that…
