Sony Ericsson S500i

I’ve been targeting for this phone ever since it’s up on the SE website. Though I was initially looking at K810i, I eventually chose this S-series model over the cyber-shot phone for the following reasons:

  • Sliding (preferred over normal candy-bar design)
  • Slim (14mm)
  • Sleek/Classy design
  • Cool light effects

P/S: K-series > “Kamera”; S-series > “Sliding/Swivel”

Finally I bought this elegant gadget on 28 July 2007 when I upgraded my mobile, broadband and fixed line subscription plan to the SingTel mio Plan (an attempt to cut down my overall monthly cost).

S500i Boxing Pic Well, the box package is quite standard. It includes:

  • Sony Ericsson S500i phone,
  • charger,
  • stereo hands-free kit,
  • USB data cable,
  • software CD,
  • user manual &
  • warranty card

And as compared to my previous phone, Nokia 6020, SE S500i is considerably slimmer but wider.

As mentioned above, the lighting effects of this phone are really great, especially at night or in dark places. The flashing calling lights can really spice up your day as it makes this phone looks like a hand-held black x-box with techno lights.

In summary, the pros and cons of this phone are as follows:

Pros

Cons

  • Slim & sleek design
  • Themes that changes with seasons/day & night
  • Supports EDGE
  • Lightweight (94 gr)
  • Fancy lighting effects
  • Keypad easily recognizable in dark places
  • Not 3G
  • Difficult to change sim card
  • Short battery life
(mainly due to the techno lights Heehee…)

There is no perfect timing… Finally something done!

Been raining the whole morning, feeling sleepy most of the time and no one wants to go KLKK. But still jio-ed the council (Wai Lun, Qiao Wei & Michael) out today for discussion on our online business proposal. Mic had just ended his shift work, thus was rather shacked out and the others also suggested to meet in the late afternoon.

Went down to Wai Lun’s place to pass him the anti-virus program and to do some house-cleaning of his com. In the process, we’d managed to brained-stormed about what to do. (Aiyah, cannot disclose the information here!)

The council (excluding Mic) then went for zhi-cha dinner at the usual coffee shop we patronize near Wai Lun’s house. The curry chicken we ordered was super spicy, although it doesn’t seem so… (almost became 阿杜 (Ah-Do) ) And the fried rice tasted not bad with the curry topped on it.

We met up with Mic in JP to conclude our discussion for the day. What can I say, after all the talk, there was finally done! – There is no perfect timing; do not wait for it cuz it will never happen.

Out you go & on with fellowship!

The deliverance session with Rev. Mike Connell was great, got hit in the right spot for most of us then. I was really encouraged to see Hall 8 still being so filled till the end of the session.

The gang of N307 proceeded on to Liang Seah St for late-dinner/supper. This was the 1st time Emily and Estella’s friend (Shu Qi look-a-like) , Yishan joined us for weekend service and fellowship. At first, there were suggestions to go for steamboat buffet (Erhmm… like late night? Not to also mention that I’m quite broke after purchasing my S500i :P ).

Well in the end, we ended up in Madam (not Miss) Saigon that serves Vietnamese cuisine. The boss was helpful and very well-articulated in many languages (e.g. canto, but not Clement’s “hou hou” version). I’ve gotta say that the serving was quite large (as compared to the usual Viet/Thai food) and it does taste authentic. Oh yah, had chicken salad and special beef noodles, more of the restaurant’s review can be found here.

Finally, We concluded the whole eating spree by closing with deserts at 记得吃 (Ji De Chi), desert shop. (Will be writing another review for this place the next time)

I’d almost freaked out when the west-bound MRT stopped service and when I reached the bus stop thinking that I’ve missed the last bus number 7. Thank God the bus was trailing behind bus 32 which Emily took. In all, today was a fruitful day, though 荷包失血过多了.
